| BORN 6/23/09 11 Kits/1 Survived Jill -Keeper On 5/23 Haily-Sue had 11 babies. One was born dead but the others were alive. Small but alive. Unfortunately, the combination of the kits being so small and Haily being a first time mom wasn't a good one. The kits weighed between 5-9 grams and 8 died over the next 3 days. It was heart breaking to be so helpless. Neither Haily or the kits knew what to do. I didn't expect any of them to survive but on the 4th day there was a change. I was cautiously optimistic about 2 of them surviving. After the 4th day they continued to gain weight and Haily started to be more protective. It was like "mother mode" set in. Usually moms are very protective and will bite at the thought of anything bothering their babies. When she eventually bit me I was so excited! Now that she knows what to do I can't wait for her to visit Alu next year. :) Alu is owned by Vickie McKimmey of "Just a Business of Ferrets". She has been breeding for several years and has experienced anything and everything. This was my first really bad experience and I would like to thank her for the support she gave me. I would also like to thank Scarlett Gray-Saling of "Scarlett's Happy Dookers". Scarlett is the person that helped me get started in breeding and is always there when I need her. I love all of my babies but these two will always have a special place in my heart. They are true survivors! :) UPDATE 7/17/09 I just got back from a 2 week vacation. A day before I left I noticed Haily was losing her milk and Scarlett volunteered one of her moms to foster the 2 babies. The mom accepted Haily's babies but unfortunately, the little boy didn't make it. The girl seems strong so I'm praying she makes it. |

| UPDATE 8/16/09 Haily-Sue has been living with SHD's Mint Julip and Mint's 7 babies. Mint has done a fabulous job and Isana has turned into her favorite. Isana is a spunky little thing and sooooooo cute. Thanks to everyone for their e-mails, thoughts, & prayers during this extremely hard time. Isana's name means "strong willed" in German and I think it fits her perfectly. |
